About

Dave Wilson

Dave Wilson - OCSC InstructorDave began his sailing career at age 11 on Lake Merritt where he terrorized fellow boaters with his capsize technique. He continued to race dinghies as a junior in Richmond, a student in Boston and then an urbanite in New York City as part of Larchmont Yacht Club's "frostbite" (a winter racing circuit) program. He is now a proud member of the Little Scorpion Club for managing to endure many seasons dodging icebergs in Long Island Sound.

Dave got his start teaching at Cal Adventures in Berkeley and then graduated to keelboat instructor in New York, where he taught sailing on J/24s for several years. After a brief hiatus in Hawaii (surfing was the draw there), Dave returned to the Bay Area to reunite with family and friends. He was easily convinced by his mother, an OCSC graduate, that OCSC was the best game in town so applied for a teaching position -- and there we have it! Dave looks forward to spreading his love of sailing to as many SF sailors as possible. When he's not sailing, Dave enjoys reading, skiing, cycling, studying medicine and talking about sailing.
