Hal Franklin

OCSC instructor - Hal Franklin

Hal began a career in computing at Dartmouth College as a member of the team that pioneered time-sharing, multi-tasking computer operating systems and the BASIC computer language. He has been an executive, a consultant (principal, H M Franklin Associates), a founder, or a partner in technology ventures for over 30 years.

Lately, though, he has been combining computing with another passion -- seafaring. One of Hal's systems, called SailDesk, manages enrollments, charters, schedules, customer relations, and other administrative tasks for sailing schools like ours around the country. Lucky for us! In fact, SailDesk is the engine that powers day-to-day business for you and our staff here at the club, including this web site's myOCSC section. Hal also writes systems that protect the world's sea ports by detecting and analyzing radioactive threats in shipping containers as they travel the globe.

Make sure to say "hello" when next you see this fellow OCSC member at a computer keyboard -- or at the helm.
